A 35-year-old Texas man was arrested after allegedly pouring scalding-hot soup on his 65-year-old girlfriend, causing severe third-degree burns because she was “talking too much,” he claimed.
Alexander Alton McDavid, of Waco, was slammed with a slew of charges, including resisting arrest or transportation, terroristic threat of family or household members, assault with bodily injury, continuous violence against family, and injury to an elderly person — his own senior-aged girlfriend.
McDavid allegedly went into a blind rage on Feb. 28 and attacked his girlfriend — who is 30 years his senior — at their apartment after claiming she was being too chatty, according to the affidavit obtained by KWTX.
He allegedly struck her with a plate of piping hot soup fresh out of the microwave, causing third-degree burns along her right shoulder and forearm.
The victim couldn’t immediately seek help because she didn’t have access to a car or cell phone, according to the affidavit. She couldn’t report the abuse until she encountered police days later during a visit to a Social Security office.
She told police that the couple lived together and were going steady for about a year until McDavid started to be physically abusive. She claimed that he choked her in the past, but said she never reported it to police.
McDavid was previously convicted of family violence assault in 2017 and again in 2021.
He was booked into McLennan County Jail with a $130,000 bond.
