The San Francisco 49ers continue to get hit by the injury bug, as the team has revealed the status for both quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

It was already believed that Purdy was not going to make it into Week 3 due to his turf toe. Head coach Kyle Shanahan did indicate that Mac Jones was prepping to be the starter, though it did sound as if Purdy was being given a chance to play.
It appears the 49ers are instead choosing to be very careful with their franchise quarterback.
Sadly, Jennings has also been ruled out due to shoulder and ankle injuries. It was also believed that Jennings was set to make it into Week 3, but that will not be the case.

Jennings was hit with a DNP (Did Not Participate) through all three injury reports, but he was still given a chance to play. His questionable status was giving hope that he would be available for this crucial Arizona Cardinals matchup, but that will not be the case.
Now, the 49ers will face the also undefeated Cardinals without their star quarterback and one of their best receivers. The good news is the team still has Ricky Pearsall, Kendrick Bourne, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, along with the huge All-Pro Christian McCaffrey.
Despite being hit with a multitude of injuries, the 49ers have showcased some huge grit, fighting their way to a 2-0 record heading into the Cardinals matcup.
A 17-13 Week 1 victory against the Seattle Seahawks was followed by a 26-21 victory against the New Orleans Saints. Jones threw 279 yards and three touchdowns to lead the 49ers to a 2-0 record.
Should the 49ers be able to take down their division rival, they will be firmly in first place of the NFC West, and presumably ready to bring back Purdy in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Purdy is not guaranteed to come back in Week 4, but with his healing nearly leading to playing in Week 3, he appears to have a good shot to suit up in the next game.
