Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley are enjoying their budding romance.
“Billy Ray and Liz are dating and it’s going well,” an insider exclusively told Us Weekly on Monday, April 21. “They have been friends for years but it turned romantic recently. It’s not completely random as they worked together years ago and always kept in touch. Billy Ray is always great about keeping in touch with people from past projects and maintaining friendships. The relationship is very recent.”
Hurley, 59, confirmed her new relationship with Cyrus, 63, in a joint post via Instagram on Sunday, April 20, which featured a sweet photo of the couple cozying up on a farm. “Happy Easter ♥️,” they wrote in the caption.
“Billy Ray and Liz have both been through a lot in life, and bonded over life experiences,” the insider told Us on Monday. “They really understand each other and Liz is a very compassionate person, which Billy Ray adores. She has been spending time with him on his farm in Nashville and they both enjoy the low-key, nature-loving lifestyle. They have just been enjoying life together and wanted to make it public. They have nothing to hide and are very happy.”
His relationship with Hurley is Cyrus’ first since finalizing his divorce from Firerose in August 2024 after seven months of marriage. (He was previously married to Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991 and Tish Cyrus from 1993 to 2022.)
Hurley and Cyrus had known each other for years before their Easter Sunday hard-launch, having crossed paths as co stars in Netflix’s 2022 film Christmas in Paradise. In the film, which was a sequel to 2021’s Father Christmas Is Back, Hurley played Joanna Christmas opposite Cyrus’ Jimmy Love.
“The opportunity to work with Billy Ray, whom I’ve long been a fan of — my son was the age where he used to watch Hannah Montana all the time, so of course, I used to watch it with him,” Hurley said in an interview with MovieWeb about her then-costar. “I knew Billy Ray really well from that, and of course, some of his music. That was a big plus.”
Hurley, meanwhile, was married to Indian businessman Arun Nayar from 2007 to 2010. She was also linked to Hugh Grant from 1987 to 2000.
While she has not yet remarried, the British actress told Tatler in February 2020 she is “open to the idea of being loved, loving someone, having someone fantastic in my life and sharing it.”
Hurley told the outlet at the time, “I don’t know if marriage comes into that to be honest, because I’m not going to have more children, and I don’t need anyone to pay my bills and give me a roof over my head.” She added, “But I would like someone for companionship, fun.”
