A man visiting Brisbane from Thailand has been charged with the murder of a woman who died in a 2020 kayak incident.
Graeme Davidson, 55, was in Brisbane on Sunday, when he was arrested by detectives and charged with murder and fraud.
The charges related to the death of a 54-year-old Warner woman, who had been kayaking with the man on Lake Samsonvale, north-west of Brisbane, when she reportedly fell into the water and drowned, police said.
“Once back to shore, witnesses and emergency services performed CPR but were unable to revive the woman and she was declared deceased at the scene.”
Detectives initially ruled her death as non-suspicious, but after a lengthy coronial investigation, it was determined to be suspicious.
Police have alleged Davidson was involved in the drowning.
His case was briefly mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday morning, where his lawyer, Matthew Ingram, asked for the matter to be adjourned. Davidson did not appear for the hearing.
His charges include fraud and attempted fraud of more than $100,000.
