A 4.1 magnitude earthquake rocked eastern Tennessee Saturday morning and was felt as far away as Atlanta, Georgia.
The quake originated near Greenbeck, Tennessee, about 30 miles southwest of Knoxville, according to the US Geological Survey.
The USGS reported the tremor had a depth of about 15.5 miles.
Residents in North and South Carolina, and Georgia reported feeling the tremors.
“First ever earthquake you could actually feel in Atlanta,” one X user posted. “Whole place shook for nearly 10 seconds. Absolutely nuts.”
“I’m outside of Atlanta, and I could’ve sworn I felt a slight tremor that shook my house,” another posted just after 9 a.m.
