The internet’s collective hearts have melted over a tiny puppy so tired she can’t even stand.
TikTok user Raven shared a video to her account @ravenruff on May 13, showing her dog, Bella, now three years old, in a very tired moment back when she was a puppy.
She captioned the video: “POV you’re so tired you can’t stand up.”
In the clip, viewed a whopping 28 million times, a man picks up the tiny puppy from a bed.
But as Raven tells her it’s “time to get up,” Bella is having none of it: as soon as she’s put the right way up on the bed, she immediately flops back down, back to the ultimate sleeping position.
The man tries again, picking up the puppy and putting her in a standing position. But as soon as his hands are no longer supporting her, Bella flops back down on her side, making tiny, grumpy, growling noises, as though complaining about having to start the day.
At this point, the couple appears to give up for now, as Raven lets out an adoring laugh, and the man plants a kiss on the puppy’s face.
TikTok users went wild for the sweet video, awarding it more than 4.6 million likes. And while some worried there could be something wrong with Bella, such as an illness, another pointed out: “Guys that’s a PUPPY puppy. They sleep like over 15 hours a day at that age.”
“The way this would have had me at the vet’s office,” another admitted, but as another put it: “Five minutes later they’re running around the house practicing Parkour.”
Puppies can sleep from between 18 to 20 hours a day, to ensure healthy growth of their brain, immune system, and muscles, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). When awake, they burn a lot of energy—and may not always want to go for a nap. It’s up to the owner to try and guide them to a quiet and comfortable place to fall asleep.
Many commenters declared the video showed it was a “No Bones Day,” referencing a pug named Noodle who went viral in 2021 for his lazy days as his owners regularly videoed him in the morning. And if Noodle flopped back into bed instead of getting up, it was designated a no-bones day.
“It was a No Bones day and you need to respect that,” one commenter said—and another pleaded with Raven: “Put him down and give him a blankie asap.”
In other videos to her account, Raven explained she found Bella as a puppy in a box while in Puerto Rico. Now, Bella goes on plenty of adventures with her new owners, with clips showing her swimming in rivers, on trips to the beach, hiking in the wilderness, and even trying out skateboarding.
And while Bella looks very much like a chocolate Labrador Retriever, Raven explained in one comment that she got her tested, and Bella is in fact a major mix of 18 different breeds, including Labrador, Pit Bull, Boxer, Chihuahua and Doberman.
