It has been over three years since John Cena suited up as Peacemaker for DC, and now the man is back in one of his biggest roles. “Peacemaker” Season 2 is set to debut on HBO Max, and will be a major player within the DCU.

Series creator and DCU co-lead James Gunn has revealed information about how “Peacemaker” fits into his brand-new DCU, and the series is said to exist moments after the events of “Superman.”
In fact, Gunn also revealed that “Peacemaker” Season 2 was moved up to August due to the release of “Superman.” It would then be believed that fans will potentially see more DCU characters emerge in this season.

Peacemaker, aka Christopher Smit, is released from the hospital following his team-up with the Suicide Squad, only to fall back into working with Amanda Waller. He is tasked with fighting an alien force known as the “Butterflies.”
Together with a team that includes Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji), Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), Economos (Steve Agee), and Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Peacemaker gets to work hunting down this alien force.
It is revealed that Murn belongs to the Butterflies, but he has been attempting to stop Goff from taking over the world.
Peacemaker gets a brutal backstory regarding killing his brother while fighting, at the behest of his racist father, Auggie Smith (Robert Patrick). However, Peacemaker begins to realize he does not want to kill anymore.
Together, the team kills the Butterflies’ cow to stop their ability to feed. Peacemaker also kills his father, only to be haunted by his image at the end of the season.
Now, the team will presumably deal with the “destruction” of the butterflies, though Goff is still alive. Also, it will be interesting to see how the events of “Superman” factor into this new season.
