A police officer has been wounded and there are grave concerns for two other officers after a shooting at a rural property in Porepunkah, about 300 kilometres north-east of Melbourne and seven kilometres west of Bright.

Police tell public to stay away from the area.

A call for urgent assistance at the property was made at 10.55am.
Heavily armed officers from the Special Operations Group are on their way to an active incident near the base of Mount Buffalo in Victoria’s alpine region, where police are already on the scene.
Police have advised the public to stay away from the area.

Police are at the scene and heavily armed officers from the Special Operations Group are en route near the base of Mount Buffalo in Victoria’s alpine region.
Police said it is still “an active incident” and have asked people to avoid the area.
Locals reported multiple police cars and an ambulance speeding towards Bright with lights and sirens on. Porepunkah residents have also been told to stay indoors while the police operation unfolds.

A police officer has been wounded and there are grave concerns for two others after a shooting at a rural property in Porepunkah, about 300 kilometres north-east of Melbourne.
