Anne Hathaway appeared to have an unscripted moment on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2 as she took a tumble down some steps.
The Oscar winner, 42, was photographed exiting a New York City building on Wednesday, August 27, when she caught her heel on one of the steps leading out to the street. (No word yet on if the heels were Prada.)
In video footage obtained by TMZ, Hathaway is seen taking a tumble, landing on her posterior, before her quickly bouncing back and declaring, “She’s fine!” Hathaway’s quick comeback from her spill prompted cheers and applause from the movie’s crew, who quickly rallied around her.
Thankfully, Hathaway managed to save the snack she was holding in her left hand, too.
The actress looked extra chic in character as Andy Sachs, wearing a sheer striped brown top and black pleated skirt.
Hathaway reprises her role as Andy Sachs, the former assistant to fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly — played by Meryl Streep — 20 years after the success of the first film.
Hathaway and Streep are rejoined by Emily Blunt, who reprises her role as Miranda’s first assistant Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling, the art director of the fictional fashion bible Runway.
Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet are among newcomers cast in the sequel.
Hathaway was previously skeptical about whether a Devil Wears Prada sequel would ever happen. “Probably not,” she said in an April 2024 interview with V Magazine when broached about the subject.
“We all love each other, and if somebody could come up with a way to do it, I think we’d all be crazy not to,” the actress said. “But there’s a huge difference in the world now with technology, and one of the things about that particular story is it was about producing a physical object. Now, with so much being digital, it would just be very different.”
She added, “Maybe me, Stanley, Emily, Meryl, [director] Dave Frankel, [costume designer] Patricia Field…we should just all do something else together. That’d be fun.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
