Small towns, big price tags.
GOBankingRates has uncovered the wealthiest small town in each of America’s 50 states — and the New York winner is bound to have Westchester residents reeling.
The company conducted the study by analyzing property prices and median incomes, defining small towns as locations that have between 500 and 1,500 households.
Muttontown took out top spot in the Empire State, with the Long Island enclave with a median household income of $247,589 and an average home value of $2.21 million.
The Nassau County town is home to 3,496 residents, including Grammy winner Alicia Keys and former Jets quarterback Chad Pennington.
Earlier this year, a separate GOBankingRates study uncovered that Scarsdale, a tony town in Westchester County, was the wealthiest suburb in America.
However, as it has more than 1,500 households, it was excluded from the new small town study.
Meanwhile, GOBankingRates determined that Glen Ridge was the richest small town in New Jersey, with a median household income of $248,000 and an average home value of $1.1 million.
Elsewhere, Newtown was named the wealthiest small town in Connecticut, although property prices and household income were lower there on average.
The average home value in the picturesque hamlet is $661,000, while the median household income is $161,000.
Palos Verdes Estates, located south of Los Angeles, was determined to be the richest small town in California.
