A Toowoomba man has died after being struck by a car while stopped in an emergency bay on the side of the Logan Motorway at Forest Lake in Brisbane’s south-west.
The man was believed to have been standing outside his car, a blue Kia Cerato, in the bay in the westbound lanes of the motorway when he and the car were hit by a white Kia Cerato just before noon on Boxing Day.
“The driver and sole occupant of the blue Kia, a 78-year-old Wilsonton man, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“The driver of the [white] Kia, a 33-year-old Cleveland woman, was not physically injured and is assisting police with their investigation.”
The woman was taken in a stable condition to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
A child was also taken in a stable condition to Queensland Children’s Hospital.
