The Philadelphia Eagles were crowned Super Bowl champions less than a year ago, and now, following their first-round postseason exit to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, changes are already being made.
On Tuesday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni made the decision to fire offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo after just one season, following mounting pressure from the fan base. The move marks the fifth offensive coordinator change for Philadelphia in the past five years.
“I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator,” Sirianni said in a statement. “I met with Kevin today to discuss this difficult decision, as he is a great coach who has my utmost respect. He has been integral to this team’s success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but also behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization.
I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career. Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals, that responsibility lies on my shoulders.”

Philadelphia has enjoyed plenty of offensive success over the years, which is why most of its offensive coordinator departures have stemmed from coaches leaving for other opportunities.
However, this season was different. The Eagles had the highest-paid offense in the NFL and were coming off a dominant campaign that culminated in a Super Bowl LIX victory, yet the unit failed to deliver.
Philadelphia was one of the most inconsistent offenses in the league, struggling to get wide receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith involved at a consistent rate. Running back Saquon Barkley also saw a dip in production after the best season of his career during the 2024–25 campaign.
The Eagles ranked 24th in the NFL in total yards per game and averaged 22.3 points per contest, placing them in the bottom half of the league.
