A video about a passenger who finds himself in a mortifying situation at the airport after his personal items appear one by one on the baggage belt has gone viral on TikTok.
The video was shared by @laysuperstar and has amassed 4.2 million views since it was shared on January 11.
Text overlaid on the clip says: “That one time we were waiting for my brother’s bag, and instead his underwear and socks came out one at a time.”
The video shows the brother standing by the baggage belt, grabbing some socks and underwear from the belt. A sole sock and another pair of underwear later appear on the belt, which the brother goes to retrieve.
The caption of the post simply says: “This was the best 30 minutes of my life.”
A voice is heard in the background saying, “Something must have gone horribly wrong.”
The brother is shown walking towards a customer service desk, as another note overlaid on the video says: “They were confused too.”
He later manages to retrieve his large duffle bag from the baggage belt. The zipper of one of the side pouches of the bag appears to be open.
The viral post comes as 151,330 mishandled bags were reported in October 2025 among 10 major airlines in the United States, according to the latest Air Travel Consumer Report published by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
The number of mishandled bags “represents the number of check bags that are lost, damaged, delayed, and pilfered, as reported by or on behalf of the passenger, that were in the airline’s custody for its reportable domestic nonstop scheduled passenger flights,” the DOT explains.
Among the 10 U.S. carriers covered in the DOT report, American Airlines had the greatest number of mishandled bags (43,780 bags), followed by United (30,247), Delta Air Lines (28,554), Southwest Airlines (25,864) and Alaska Airlines (11,225).
