Unexpected star Mia Quebedeaux and her infant baby are safe after a fire destroyed her family’s property.
“I start going down [the stairs], and I see the bottom of the stairs are on fire,” Mia, 16, shared in an interview for Unfiltered With Kiran published on Monday, January 26. “My dad opens our laundry room door that leads to a second pair of stairs on the side of our house, and flames were already all the way up there. So black smoke just came all in our house.”
Mia said she lives with her boyfriend, Jessie, and their infant child at their dad’s home in Denham Springs, Louisiana. The TLC reality star said nobody had any time to grab personal belongings.
“I lost my phone, my dad lost his phone. I lost my keys. My dad lost wallet, everything,” she said. “We all just ran out of the house. My dog got out, me and the baby, everybody got out of the house safely.”
A GoFundMe page has been launched to support Mia and her family rebuild and obtain necessary supplies as they find a new place to live.
“A very close family of mine lost everything to a house fire,” the GoFundMe organizer stated on the page. “Mia, Jessie, Keith, lost their home where Mia and Jessie are raising their 5-month-old. Mia’s father, Keith, works everyday to provide for his family. Keith is the sole provider for his kids. He lost everything in the house fire along with his truck. Doesn’t have a way to work to provide for his family. All the vehicles are gone. Please if you can help anyway possible it will be greatly appreciated. This family needs so many prayers and help right now.”
Mia remains grateful for the passerby who saw smoke and decided to grab the attention of her family.
“It wasn’t even a neighbor. She was just driving right by the stop sign and she saw it,” she recalled. “Thank God she came and said something or it could have been a completely different story.”
Us Weekly has reached out to the Denham Springs Fire Department for additional comment.
Mia and her family are will appear on the upcoming season of TLC’s reality show Unexpected.

As cameras roll, Mia reaches the 30-week mark in her pregnancy. As a result, decisions have to be made about who can support her in the delivery room.
Mia confirms that her mom, Nicole, was “on and off being in jail” throughout her childhood. As a result, Jessie’s mother, AK, believes she is more deserving of being by the couple’s side as their child is born.
“Not to be mean or rude, but I would think that I earned that spot before her mom,” AK says in a confessional interview.
