It’s been a busy week for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Milwaukee Bucks star just made it through the 2026 NBA trade deadline as the most notable candidate known to be on the block. Despite garnering interest from a handful of serious suitors, the Bucks didn’t like any of their offers. And since Giannis didn’t make a push, he stayed with his team.
After the trade deadline went down, Antetokounmpo announced a new business venture, which was met with plenty of criticism. The star forward became a shareholder in the prediction market platform, Kalshi.
The decision to link with the platform called for plenty of pushback, considering the circumstances, but it didn’t stop Giannis from announcing his next move, which came about one day later. The Bucks forward finds a new team outside of basketball. He is joining the ownership group of Chelsea, a Premier League soccer team.

“I’m proud and honored to partner with my friend [Alex Ohanian], joining the ownership group of [Chelsea], a historic club built on passion, excellence, and a winning culture,” Antetokounmpo wrote on social media.
“Chelsea’s history speaks for itself, and I’m excited to contribute to the future by supporting continued growth and impact in women’s sport. This is about ambition, legacy, and pushing the game to new heights. Up the Chels!”
Chelsea F.C. is one of the most recognizable clubs in the Premier League.
Currently, the men’s team is fifth in the league, with a 12-7-6 record. The women’s team is ranked third, posting a 9-3-3 record.
As for Giannis and the Bucks, their season hasn’t gone as planned. Antetokounmpo hoped that they could take advantage of a wide-open Eastern Conference after a disappointing first-round exit in the playoffs last season, but their start has been underwhelming.
The Bucks are 21-29, which places them outside of the Play-In picture in 12th place. Antetokounmpo hasn’t been able to help contribute, as he’s nursing a calf injury.
The big man was rumored to potentially miss the remainder of the season, but the Bucks haven’t made that decision. If he stays on the same timeline that was initially reported, Antetokounmpo could return to the Bucks’ lineup sometime after the All-Star break.
In the meantime, the veteran star is locking in ventures outside of basketball.
