United States star figure skater Amber Glenn saw her gold medal hopes likely dashed when she bailed on a triple loop required in her program. As a result, she got zero points for an invalid element, giving her an overall score of 67.39, which leaves her in 13th place heading into the four minute free skate after entering as one of the four favorites to win the gold medal in the event.
After her heartbreaking performance, Glenn received a touching message from teammate Madison Chock. “So proud of the strength of our American women on the world’s biggest stage. You all are incredible,” Chock said in the message on her Instagram story.
Controversy erupted on social media with some questioning the scoring of the event that leaves Glenn well outside of potential medal.

Glenn, however, appears to be taking the heartbreaking performance in stride. In a previous message on Instagram she reposted an uplifting message from an Instagram account that brings positivity.
“The world has ended for me many times and yet tomorrow still comes. Keep going,” the message read showing a dog in a hat. The following photo reads, “you are killing your own peace by thinking about it too much,” before the final page said, “It has gotten better before, I promise it will get better again.”
She kept her spirits up in another comical post on TikTok captioned, “I’m coping well thanks for asking.”
Glenn enters the final portion of the event, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 19 afternoon well outside of medal contention while fellow United States stars Alysa Liu and Isabeau Levito enter the free skate in third place and eighth place respectively.
The Blade Angels hope their fortunes take a turn for the better on Thursday.
