Two men were charged after igniting a brawl during a five-year-old girl’s birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, which left a family member fighting for his life in a coma.
Derrick Jones and Keshawn Fell allegedly started brawling in the bathroom before their scuffle spilled out in front of small children at the Sylvania Township, Ohio, establishment last Sunday, according to WTVG-TV.
A 22-year-old man, who hasn’t been named but was identified as the birthday girl’s uncle, was placed in an induced medical coma, having suffered a broken eye socket.
Horrified children reportedly ran in terror and the manager told dispatchers on a 911 call that they tried to push the brawlers out of the building.
Bodycam footage obtained by the outlet captured workers trying to break up the chaotic melee as a worker shoved the pair away from the customers and through the exit.
“All I could do is grab everybody’s kids and try to get them up against the wall and try to get them away from it,” a woman, who has only been named as the victim’s sister, told WTVG.
The woman’s brother reportedly collapsed and she said her daughter had been left “traumatized” at what unfolded at her party, believing that her sibling was struck by a weapon.
“I grabbed my brother. Please talk to me. Talk to me. I’m here,” she recalled as she tried to talk to her injured brother.
Family members were also left horrified by what unfolded.
“Like you knew when you went in the bathroom to fight, you knew that this was a kid’s establishment,” an unidentified family member said.
Jones faces an assault charge and Fell faces disorderly conduct in a hospital charge. Both men pleaded not guilty.
The Post has approached Chuck E. Cheese for comment.
