Tucker Carlson has new merchandise out, and it is courting unlikely fans, as liberals flock to social media to share their surprising feelings about the merchandise.
The merch has been surprisingly popular among liberals, with one social media user labeling it “dope,” while questioning what the “moral repercussions” of buying the merchandise from an “ontological enemy” may be, in a post viewed over 40,000 times.
Newsweek has contacted a representative for Carlson for comment.
Why It Matters
The fanfare over the former Fox News host and podcaster’s new merch line comes at a critical time for Carlson, with President Donald Trump having publicly booted him out of the MAGA movement over his opposition to the Iran War. “Tucker has lost his way,” Trump told ABC News. “He’s not MAGA,” he said.
The U.S. and Israel launched military strikes against Iran on Saturday, in what has been dubbed “Operation Epic Fury.” The war has now entered its seventh day, and President Donald Trump has declared that the United States will only engage Iran on the basis of “unconditional surrender.” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that U.S. strikes against Iran were “about to surge dramatically.”
Carlson had described the decision to attack Iran as “absolutely disgusting and evil.” Carlson spoke to Status’s Oliver Darcy after the president’s comments and said that there are times he gets “annoyed with Trump,” and that this moment is “definitely included. But he added that “I’ll always love him no matter what he says about me,” he said.
What To Know
“Hey, we gotta talk about Tucker Carlson’s merch,” the comedian Jasmine Parniani said in a video viewed more than 2 million times on Instagram. “I want that so bad,” she said about a mug which has “I [heart emoji] nicotine,” before showing the “NY Commie Mug” and saying that particular one was her favourite as a “socialist girlie.”
The “NY Commie” design features the letters NY followed by a Hammer and Sickle symbol, which first emerged during the 1917 Russian Revolution. Merchandise that reads “Good luck, NY” is also being sold, likely in opposition to the city’s new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist.
That video was captioned, “I need these to hit the thrift stores because as a sœcialist girlie I cannot support, but as a woman who loves a bit???”
“I f****** hate when evil people are funny,” she says at one point in the video.
And it’s a popular sentiment.
One comment on that video, liked more than 12,000 times, reads: “Why is Tucker Carlson making merch I like?”
@pleasuresystems, a social media user on X wrote in a post viewed over 1 million times, “who!!! The f*** is designing Tucker Carlson’s merch.”
“These go too hard what the f***,” one social media user responded to that post. Another wrote, “The New York hammer and sickle one is so f****** fire hold on,” and one commented, “Left wingers would unironically wear the NYC one.”
As liberals queried the moral ramifications of buying merchandise from a political opponent, the account @BadNewsShow had a solution.
“One must separate the art from the artist bro,” they wrote.
