A second US fighter plane crashed in the Persian Gulf area Friday — and the lone pilot was safely rescued, according to US officials.
The A-10 Warthog attack plane fell to the ground near the Strait of Hormuz at roughly the same time an Air Force F-15E was shot down over Iran, two US officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told the New York Times.
Few other details were immediately known about the A-10 crash, including where it happened and how the plane was downed.
