Unexpected star Bella Vaughn admitted she ignored the suggested six-week waiting period to abstain from sex after giving birth.
“I think we only waited four days,” Bella, 16, said while seated next to her mom, Falen Vaughn, in a candid confessional during the Monday, April 6, episode, revealing that she and boyfriend Hunter Johnson had intercourse soon after she welcomed son Wes.
“Seriously?” a stunned Falen replied, to which Bella retorted by pointing out that she and her sister were only 11 months apart in age. “Did it hurt?” Falen asked her daughter. “Freak yeah,” Bella said. “Cause you’re supposed to wait!” Falen reminded her. (Bella and Hunter, 14, are one year and six months apart in age. She is a sophomore in high school, while he is a freshman.)
A producer then asked Bella whether she had been using protection to avoid another pregnancy. “I’m not on birth control to prevent a baby, but we are using condoms … sadly,” she shared.
Falen chimed in, “Yeah, neither one of them want to use ’em” before Bella interjected to note, “But I still do it every time because I don’t want two kids right now.”
Another scene showed Falen confronting her daughter about her suspicions that she wasn’t actually using protection. However, Bella assured her that she will “not go without it.”
“We are using protection,” Hunter doubled down in a separate confessional with Bella, while raising suspicion with a cheeky grin and lifted brow. When a producer questioned why he had concerns about her getting pregnant if they were using condoms, he said, “I’m just scared.”
Bella and Hunter welcomed their son via C-section in a scene captured on the TLC series. “I’m afraid I might throw up … pass out,” he said before she was wheeled in for surgery.
More recently, Bella defended her parents for letting her shower with Hunter while recovering.
“The shower scene, y’all hated, but I was 15 years old, freshly postpartum, out of the hospital and had my stomach cut open [from a C-section],” Bella fired back in a TikTok clip posted on April 2. “I had just got my staples removed literally hours prior to that.”
“Hunter helped me out because I just had his baby,” she continued. “He should be there, helping me when he’s the one that made the baby with me.”
Falen also responded to hate comments she saw on social media. “I treat him just like I treat my kids,” Falen said of Hunter. “I call him out when he needs to be called out. I take care of him just like I take care of my kids. That’s what you do when someone else becomes part of your family, you take care of them.”
