Bryson DeChambeau opened himself to scrutiny this week when he finally addressed the LIV Golf league losing funding from the Saudi Public Investment Fund following the 2026 season.
The star golfer described a potential punishment from the PGA Tour – should he decide to return – as “quite unfortunate in my opinion, considering what I could do for them.”
He went on to suggested that LIV Golf and the PGA Tour need to work together to reunify men’s professional golf. In a subsequent comment, DeChambeau claimed the “egos need to get dropped,” and added “everybody needs to come in with a level-headed playing field, with an opportunistic mindset to grow the game of golf.”
The star golfer immediately took heat for suggesting the PGA Tour needs his services while also shouting the “egos” need to be dropped.

PGA professional John Morton suggested DeChameau’s response is “why Bryson is so unlikable.”
“In one breath, he describes possible PGA Tour fines as ‘quite unfortunate… considering what I could do for them.’ Then immediately after that, he says, ‘The egos need to get dropped… Everyone needs to come in level-headed.’ ARE YOU KIDDING ME, MAN?!” Morton said.
Another offered, “Nailed, narcissistic to his core. Every aspect of his public persona is manufactured by his PR team. The guy is as disingenuous as they come.”
DeChambeau’s contract with LIV Golf expires after the 2026 season.
