President Donald Trump has spoken out against the Supreme Court, predicting it will rule against him on birthright citizenship and criticizing justices he appointed over their previous ruling against tariffs.
“A negative ruling on Birthright Citizenship, on top of the recent Supreme Court Tariff catastrophe, is not Economically sustainable for the United States of America!” Trump wrote in a lengthy post on Truth Social.
The Supreme Court heard the case Trump v. Barbara on April 1 and is still set to announce its decision on Trump’s executive order declaring that children born to parents who are in the United States illegally or temporarily are not American citizens.
Trump, however, said it would decide against him, citing the High Court’s decision against his imposition of tariffs under emergency laws.
The president singled out Justices Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, whom he appointed during his first term, writing, “They were appointed by me, and yet have hurt our Country so badly.”
This is a developing story and will be updated.
