Detectives are probing the mysterious deaths of two people after the bodies of a man and a woman were found in a home in Melbourne’s west on Friday afternoon.
Police were called for a welfare check at the home in Melton Close, Werribee, just after 3.30pm on Friday.
The bodies of a 31-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were discovered inside.
The cause of their deaths is still unknown, with police awaiting the results of a postmortem.
A spokeswoman for Victoria Police said detectives were not looking for anyone else in relation to the deaths, and the pair knew each other.
Two police cars were stationed on Melton Close on Saturday morning, with police tape still cordoning off the home.
Neighbours who spoke to The Age said the man and woman had lived in the property for only a year or two, and mostly kept to themselves. No one living on the street could recall emergency services previously attending the home.
Cecilia Yuen said that when she returned from work on Friday night, the street was filled with police cars flashing blue and red lights.
She said the deaths were “really unexpected” and she felt devastated for the man and woman’s families.
“I have never experienced this in my life… it’s a bit shocking to see,” she said.
“It’s a quiet street, and I haven’t really heard any arguments or fighting.”
