Straus Family Creamery is voluntarily recalling small numbers of select flavors and sizes of the company’s Organic Ice Cream due to fears the product may be contaminated with foreign metal material, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in an alert.
Newsweek reached out to the company via email on Friday night for comment.
Numerous recalls have been initiated in the past year because of potentially damaged products, foodborne illness, undeclared food allergens or the potential for bacteria. Millions of Americans experience food sensitivities or food allergies, with the FDA saying the nine “major” food allergens in the U.S. are eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts and peanuts.
