Are you ready to feel the power this week?
If you’re a Prime Video subscriber, you will, thanks to the debut of the big-budget 2026 action fantasy Masters of the Universe, which features Nicholas Galitzine in a skirt fighting the forces of darkness. No, I’m not joking.
There are plenty of bingeworthy TV shows for you to check out this week as well.
BritBox launches its latest crime mystery, Gone, while Netflix brings back one of last year’s pleasant surprises, Ransom Canyon, for a second season of love and melodrama down south.
Finally, if you just can’t get enough of The Big Bang Theory, even after it’s been off the air for seven years, beam yourself up to watch Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, HBO Max’s new sci-fi-flavored spinoff show.
‘Masters of the Universe’ (2026) – Prime Video (July 22)
Dust off those old toys and get ready for the return of one of the ‘80s most popt popular characters. He-Man (Nicholas Galitzine) is back, and this time, he’s facing an enemy more scary than the evil Skeletor (Jared Leto) – human resources. Prince Adam has been in hiding for 15 years working as an HR rep on Earth, but when his old friend Teela (Camila Mendes) returns to tell him Eternia needs his help, he decides to resume what he’s best at – wearing a skirt and leather harness, wielding a giant sword and fighting bad guys.
Masters of the Universe knows it’s absurd, which is what makes it so fun to watch. Galitzine is a proud himbo warrior – even he can’t believe he’s so golden and buff. Director Travis Knight retains the original cartoon’s whimsy while adding just enough post-modern snark to make it all go down easy.
‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2 – Netflix (July 23)
If you miss Yellowstone and crave a little romance, saddle up with Ransom Canyon. The Netflix show, starring Josh Duhamel as widowed rancher Staten Kirkland, who returns to his hometown to start a new life, was a surprise hit in 2025, and unlike most Netflix shows, it’s back for a second season only a year after its debut.
Season 2 starts six months after last season’s finale, which saw Quinn (Minka Kelly) move to New York City to pursue her music dreams. She’s back, of course, and she brought someone with her – a new beau, Oliver (Beau Robson), who has asked for her hand in marriage. If you think that’s going to stop Staten from winning her back, well, you haven’t been watching Ransom Canyon. Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson joins the cast as Quinn’s mother, Claire, who has some secrets of her own.
‘Gone’ Season 1 – BritBox (July 23)
When music teacher Alana Polly (Emma Appleton) vanishes, everyone is clueless as to where she could have gone – especially her worried husband, Michael Polly (David Morrissey). Because her car keys and mobile phone were left at home, it looks like Alana was kidnapped – or worse. Detective Annie Cassidy (Eve Myles) is brought in to investigate Alana’s disappearance, and the more she spends time with Michael, the more she’s convinced he had something to do with it. Annie’s a pretty good judge of character, but she’ll need solid evidence to back up her intuitions.
Gone is the latest addictive murder mystery from BritBox, home to some of the United Kingdom’s best crime shows. The cat-and-mouse story is truly gripping, with a plot as twisty as any you’d find in a Netflix Harlan Coben adaptation, only without the absurd ending. Gone‘s first three episodes premiere on July 23, with the remaining three released weekly.
‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’ Season 1 – HBO Max (July 23)
Comic book shop owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) isn’t a genius, but he’s friends with several of them, like Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstader (Johnny Galecki). But when he accidentally damages a device that creates a rift in the multiverse, only Stuart can fix it. Accompanied by his wisecracking girlfriend, Denise (Lauren Lapkus), and several of his best buds, Stuart hops from dimension to dimension to try to fix the catastrophic problem he created.
Another spinoff of the beloved hit show The Big Bang Theory, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe boldly goes where no spinoff has gone before. In contrast to the warm-and-fuzziness of Young Sheldon and George & Mandy’s First Marriage, Stuart is more of a sci-fi series than a sitcom. It still brings the laughs, though, as well as fellow TBBT vets like John Ross Bowie as frenemy Eric Kripke and Riki Landhome, who played Ramona Nowitzki on the CBS show.
