A man eating chicken nuggets from Burger King posted to Reddit last week that he found a mystery item in one of them, which lead him to wretch.
Beck (u/Inevitable-Ad-8597), 35, who preferred not to share his full name, visited the fast-food chain on March 3 and bit into an unidentified object when eating the nuggets.
“It felt like a waxy, fuzzy ‘something’—hard to describe. [It] hit the back of my throat, it was nasty. I gagged and spit the whole chewed-up nugget into my hand and found this mysterious disc thing,” Beck, a mechanic from upstate New York, told Newsweek.
He shared his bizarre discovery to the subreddit “mildly infuriating,” where it quickly gained traction, earning 6,400 upvotes. The post included an image of the small, cream-colored disc he found in his food.
Newsweek reached out to Burger King’s press office for comment via email. We could not verify the details of the case.
He said the object felt like a “fiber washer” or “felt gasket.”
A fiber washer is a thin, lightweight component used for sealing, vibration reduction, and electrical insulation in various mechanical applications.
A felt gasket is made from compressed fibers and provides sealing, noise reduction, and fluid containment. It is flexible and absorbs oils or liquids, commonly used for vibration dampening and preventing fluid transmission.
Chicken nuggets are typically made from ground chicken meat, often a blend of breast, thigh, and skin, combined with seasoning and binding agents before being battered and fried. While many assume nuggets consist solely of white meat, they often contain processed components to maintain texture and flavor.
Burger King’s nuggets are described as crispy, juicy and toasty pieces of chicken coated breading. They are available in various portion sizes and served with a choice of dipping sauces.
Beck claimed he attempted to contact Burger King’s customer service team but struggled to receive assistance due to a glitch in the artificial intelligence (AI) system when entering their name.

Redditors were eager to speculate on what the foreign object could be, offering various theories.
“Looks like part of a sauce cap. Sometimes these go on the underside of the cap and help keep whatever the contents are fresh?” one user suggested.
“Probably from the factory, multiple liquids with those kinds of seals used to make the breading of the nugget,” another theorized.
“Have you seen how nuggets are made? That’s 5000 chickens you’re eating, churned into a pulp and squeezed onto a conveyor belt. So yeah, sometimes stuff falls in,” another third Reddit user wrote.
