An article about baseball legend Jackie Robinson’s time in the Army has been removed from the Department of Defense’s website.
The webpage’s URL now includes “dei” before the article, suggesting it may have been removed as part of President Donald Trump’s executive order ending diversity, equity and inclusion programs within the federal government.
The article, headlined Sports Heroes Who Served: Baseball Great Jackie Robinson Was WWII Soldier, can still be read on the Internet Archive website.
California station KSBW and ESPN’s Jeff Passan first reported on Tuesday night that the article had been taken down.
Articles about Robinson’s military service were also removed from the Army and Air Force websites, KSBW reported.
This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
