Opposition spokeswoman for foreign affairs Michaelia Cash has delivered an imaginative rebuke of Anthony Albanese’s response to the Trump administration’s proposed tariffs on Australian goods, labelling Albanese the “Seinfeld prime minister” who is “being a show about nothing”, in a reference to the famous characterisation of the American TV show.
Speaking on Seven’s Sunrise the day after Trump suggested trade penalties for Australian goods could rise to 20 per cent, double the figure proposed in April, Cash urged Albanese to secure a meeting with Trump to advocate for the national interest.

Cash was joined on the segment by Housing Minister Clare O’Neil, who said that Australian officials would “continue to push” the Trump administration on the tariffs, and work for the best deal possible.
