Everyone’s been talking about that awkward moment when Astronomer CEO Andy Byron was spotted on a kiss cam at a Coldplay concert with coworker Kristin Cabot, a woman who is not his wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron.
This is such a common narrative device that the Watch With Us team kind of can’t believe it happened in real life!
Whether it’s led to romantic moments or major drama, that pesky camera can definitely drive a narrative.
If you can’t get enough of the real-life drama, we’ve compiled a list of movies on Netflix, Hulu and Paramount+ where the kiss cam has played a major role in the story.
‘Set It Up’ (2018)

In this hilarious Netflix movie, assistants Charlie (Glen Powell) and Harper (Zoey Deutch) endeavor to make their uptight bosses (Taye Diggs and Lucy Liu) fall in love so that they’ll have a little more free time. A key point in this scheme? Getting them to sit next to each other at a baseball game (after all, they control the schedules) and bribing the kiss cam operator to get them onscreen.
It takes a couple of tries, but once you get two very attractive people like Liu and Diggs smooching, sparks are bound to fly. It’s a charming twist on the fake-dating trope — with one of the most strategic kiss cam moments in rom-com history.
Watch Set it Up on Netflix.

In this classic rom-com, journalist Andie (Kate Hudson) and advertising exec Ben (Matthew McConaughey) are each on a mission — though the other doesn’t know it. Andie’s goal is to get a guy to dump her within 10 days, while Ben’s is to make a woman fall in love with him in 10 days. They’re both trying to prove a point to help their careers, but along the way, they wind up falling for each other for real.
Though it’s a brief moment, a kiss cam moment at a basketball game proves how real their chemistry is. It’s the kind of scene that proves sometimes love sneaks in when you least expect it — even in the middle of a sneaky scheme.
Watch How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days on Paramount+.
‘Merry Kiss Cam’ (2022)
As the title suggests, this Hulu movie is all about the kiss cam. Jess (Katie Lowes) and Danny (Jesse Bradford) find their first date accelerated when they end up on the kiss cam at a hockey game. When the underdog Bulldog hockey team wins right after their smooch, they become the “lucky charm” for the team and are required to kiss at every game.
But will Jess’s wounded heart keep her from letting in this hockey fan? And will the Bulldogs win the championship? If you like festive romance with a sporty twist, this under-the-radar gem will hit the sweet spot.
Watch Merry Kiss Cam on Hulu.
