A viral TikTok clip featuring an adorable cocker spaniel puppy has melted hearts online.
The video showcased a uniquely cute habit that the pup, Haze, exhibits during grooming sessions—leaning her head toward the fluffy ear her owner is combing next. Since the clip was posted, it has received nearly 250,000 views and over 27,000 likes.
“What’s the cutest thing your dog does?” the creator captioned the video. “Our[s] leans in the direction when she knows we are gonna brush her other ear … Do you also melt every time you look at your dog?”
The footage clearly shows Haze anticipating the next ear-brushing stroke. As her owner finishes one ear, the dog shifts her head, tilting it in the direction of the unbrushed ear.
The tiny habit has resonated with viewers, many of whom are fellow dog owners who understand the special quirks that make their pets so loved.
“My dog does that cute thing where he breathes,” one person wrote. “10/10 cuteness overload???'”
Another described a different sweet and interactive behavior from their pet: “My dog loves to bop with his nose, so if I ask for a kiss, he’ll come and bop me with a little kiss.”
Haze’s breed, the cocker spaniel, is renowned for its charming disposition, a characteristic that certainly shines through in her video.
The American Kennel Club (AKC) says that the cocker spaniel is “one of the world’s best-loved breeds” known for “his big, dreamy eyes and impish personality.”
While historically developed as hunting dogs, their popularity stems largely from their role as all-around companions.
The AKC further describes the cocker spaniel’s distinctive “long, lush ears that practically demand to be touched,” making Haze’s ear-brushing routine all the more fitting for her breed. This cocker-specific trait perfectly explains why a dog like Haze would find such pleasure in having her ears attended to.
Regarding their temperament and training, the AKC noted that cocker spaniels are generally a “people-pleasing breed,” inherently wanting to be “good” to satisfy their owners and are typically sensitive and responsive to correction and a disapproving tone.
The breed enjoys the mental and physical challenge of performance activities, and the AKC advises trying out various ones to discover what interests an individual cocker, followed by consistent training.
Haze’s ear-leaning habit is, then, a glimpse into the affectionate and engaging nature that makes cocker spaniels like Haze such cherished members of families.
