The NFL postseason kicks off on Saturday, with all 14 teams believing they can get hot, string together a few wins, and punch their ticket to Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium.
Before the playoffs begin, predictions are plentiful—from fans, analysts, and commentators alike. NBC Sports’ Cris Collinsworth, alongside partner Mike Tirico, shared their thoughts during a recent interview with CNBC.
While Collinsworth didn’t firmly lock in one team, he mentioned the No. 1-seeded Seattle Seahawks because of their dominant defense. Tirico backed him up, noting Collinsworth had been favoring Seattle several weeks before the regular season ended.

“I’m thinking it’s a long shot,” Collinsworth said. “I think it’s a team that we haven’t seen there in a little while. And I don’t know exactly. I think Seattle is secretly so good on defense,” he added—interrupted by the interviewer: “Not so secretly.”
Tirico chimed in, “But it was secretly when Cris predicted Seattle about five weeks before the regular season ended… in a room full of witnesses, and we just kind of laughed at him. Now he’s laughing at us.”
Collinsworth responded, “We’ll see. You could see a Houston or Jacksonville… it really could be one of those years because I don’t think there’s a big gap between the top and bottom of these playoff teams now. There’s just so much intrigue going into the Super Bowl.”
The Seahawks (14–3) and Denver Broncos earned first-round byes and will enjoy home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. But this season, more than ever, the gap between the top and bottom teams in each conference feels much narrower.
With the Kansas City Chiefs out of the picture for the first time since 2021, the AFC is guaranteed a new representative in the Super Bowl, while the No. 3-seeded Philadelphia Eagles look to make a repeat run
