The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the most dominant teams in recent memory. They’ve won back-to-back World Series titles and could be headed for a third consecutive championship next year.
The Dodgers are bound to be one of the top suitors in the league for Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker. Tucker is projected to land a $427 million deal, per The Athletic’s Jim Bowden. At that price, the Dodgers are one of the only teams in the league that could afford him.
Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter recently predicted the Dodgers would win the Tucker sweepstakes in free agency this offseason as they look to take their team to the next level.
“The Dodgers have long been viewed as the favorites to sign Kyle Tucker this offseason given their deep pockets and clear need for an outfield bat, though the Yankees, Mets and Giants could all give them a serious run for their money,” Reuter wrote. “If he does land elsewhere, they could pivot to a familiar face in Cody Bellinger, or aim a bit lower with someone like Harrison Bader.”
Tucker is the top free agent on the market, and the Dodgers are the top team in baseball.
If they can land him, they’ll further separate themselves at the top of the league. Tucker could hit five or six in the Dodgers’ order, and it would give them the top lineup in the sport.
It’s going to be tough for the Dodgers to win this sweepstakes, but it could help change their franchise for the better going forward.
