The Dropkick Murphys will headline an anti-ICE memorial gig in Minneapolis in honor of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
Good and Pretti were shot and killed by ICE agents operating in the city in January.
Ahead of the Celtic-American band’s show at the Palace Theatre on Friday, March 6, the group will perform a free acoustic set as part of an event titled “Abolish ICE A Fundraiser For The People.”
The free concert will run from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. that day at the Black Forest Inn parking lot, close to the Alex Pretti Memorial. The Black Forest Inn has been providing ICE protestors and observers with hot drinks throughout their demonstrations in the city.
The band announced the plans for the gig in an Instagram post from their official account. “Help us support the warriors who’ve stepped up to protect our neighbors and our democracy,” they wrote alongside the news.
Any donations and money made from the show will go to the charities Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Show Up For Eat Street, the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, and Rent Support for Bancroft Families.
In a statement, frontman Ken Casey said: “We are so proud of how Minnesota stood up and met this moment, and we are so sad for the community and for the Pretti and Good families for what they’ve gone through.”
He continued: “It is an honour to come down and be able to play some music for the people and let them know we stand in solidarity with them.”
Casey previously collaborated with one of the show’s main sponsors, the Valor Media Network, to raise money for Ukrainian war victims. The Dropkick Murphys have been outspoken critics of President Donald Trump.
Last year, they made headlines after choosing to dedicate the song “First Class Loser” to Trump during live shows. These performances of the song have often been accompanied by videos of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein.
Prior to that, Casey branded Trump the “greatest swindler in history” in an interview with Newsweek.
Those who are unable to attend the event will be able to stream globally on the AlobishICE.live website.
The Dropkick Murphys recently dropped a new single, “Citizen I.C.E.,” which is a reimagined version of the 2005 song “Citizen C.I.A.” that the band recorded in late 2025.
In March last year, Dropkick Murphys challenged a man wearing a Make America Great Again (MAGA) shirt to determine whether it was made in the United States.
Ken Casey stopped a show in Clearwater, Florida, when he spotted a man in the shirt near the front row. Casey said all of his band’s merchandise is made in the USA and bet him the shirt on his back and $100 if the man could prove his shirt was also made in America.
After getting the crowd involved to check the tags on the MAGA shirt, Casey announced to the crowd that the MAGA shirt was made in Nicaragua. Casey also previously clashed with Republicans at another show.
