Fans of the Duffer Brothers’ Stranger Things do not have to wait long until the sibling duo are back with a new series.
Netflix has confirmed that Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, an eight‑episode limited series executive produced by Matt and Ross Duffer, will premiere on March 26. It marks the first project attached to the brothers following the conclusion of their wildly successful creation, Stranger Things, on New Year’s Eve.
The series was created by writer Haley Z. Boston and signals the start of the Duffers’ post-Stranger Things slate under their Upside Down Productions banner. While they are not indicated to be the showrunners, their involvement has drawn early attention from viewers who are eager to see what comes next after the worldwide fame of their Netflix hit.
What We Know So Far
Set in the week leading up to an ill‑fated wedding, Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen follows a bride and groom as they move toward what is described as a doomed set of nuptials. It is said to be inspired by Carrie and Rosemary’s Baby, two titans of the horror genre.
The show is positioned as an atmospheric horror, a genre space the Duffers became known for early on in their careers. Before Stranger Things expanded into a global franchise, its first season was originally envisioned as a standalone limited series with a much eerier tone than later seasons that earned widespread praise from both viewers and TV critics.
The new project appears to echo some of those roots.
The cast includes 28-year-old Camila Morrone, fresh from shooting The Night Manager opposite Tom Hiddleston, along with Adam DiMarco, Jeff Wilbusch, Karla Crome, Gus Birney, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ted Levine and Sawyer Fraser.
Leigh had previously starred in later seasons of Twin Peaks, which has been compared to Stranger Things. The series is directed by Weronika Tofilska, known for her work on Baby Reindeer, alongside Axelle Carolyn and Lisa Brühlmann.
Behind the camera, the production brings together a set of established executive producers. In addition to the Duffers, Hilary Leavitt and Andrea Sperling serve as executive producers on what looks to be an ambitious project. While plot details remain limited, the wedding‑week structure suggests a contained, character‑focused narrative with horror elements shaped across its eight episodes, much like the format of Stranger Things season 1.
The announcement comes as fans and industry watchers continue to track the Duffers’ next steps after the conclusion of what unexpectedly became Netflix’s flagship show. The timing of Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen’s release, with it dropping just mere months after the Stranger Things finale, suggests that Netflix intends to maintain momentum around the two creators responsible for bringing the story to audiences.
Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen now officially set to stream on March 26. A trailer has not yet been released.
