NSW Police fear for the safety of an elderly man who was mistakenly kidnapped from his northern Sydney home yesterday.
Just after 5am on Friday, police received reports from the neighbours of Chris Baghsarian, an 85-year-old man, who “heard some commotion” as he was being kidnapped from his home in North Ryde.
Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Marks said there were signs of forced entry into the house, and reports that Baghsarian was bundled into a dark-coloured Toyota SUV by up to three people.
That vehicle was found burnt out near his home.
Baghsarian, who Marks said requires daily medication and medical treatment, was wearing a blue and maroon flannelette shirt and grey tracksuit pants.
“We fear for his safety and are appealing for his safe return,” Marks said.
“They have the wrong person. The family is concerned, and they are not involved in any criminal activity and just want the safe return of their father.”
Marks appealed to the kidnappers , please release him, a member of the kidnap crew tell us where he is.
The man’s family are helping police with their inquiries and has appealed for anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
