Since Tiger Woods ruptured his Achilles, his camp has not released much news. He had surgery, but that was the last update until now.
Ahead of the Champions Tour event, former Masters champion Fred Couples let everyone know how Tiger is doing.
“I have. I’ve texted Tiger as soon as it happened and he got back to me… He’s in great spirits for a ruptured Achilles,” Couples said. “He really is, he’ll be fine.”
The Achilles injury is the latest in the long line of aliments Tiger has dealt with in his career, especially in the last few years. Since his car wreck in February 2021, Woods has not played a consistent schedule.
Many wondered when he would play his next PGA Tour event after participating in TGL with his Jupiter Links team. Most thought it would be The PLAYERS, but he said he was not ready to return to play competitively after losing his mother in February.
Shortly before the tournament started, his injury news went public, putting his playing on the back burner.
“It’s such a bummer because people think, when’s he going to play? He was scheduled to play a few events, not a ton, but a few events,” Couples revealed. “You know, his mother passing away would slow anyone down. But he’s my man, and texting him is a lot of fun.”
Woods rarely gives updates on his health and life. However, Couples does it for him to give the fans what they want.
Tiger’s timeline to playing again is unknown, but at least it seems his mental state is on par.
