House Hunters recently introduced a couple with a 30-year age difference who moved in together after their first date.
During a July episode of the HGTV show, titled “Cougar Needs a Den for Her Cub,” Sara, 52, and Jack, 22, broke down their search for a new home in Sacramento, California. When a clip was later shared via HGTV’s TikTok, all anyone could talk about was their significant age gap and surprising origin story.
“There is a 30-year age difference between us, but we don’t feel it,” Sara said in the clip before Jack added, “I don’t care if anyone judges us, they can go focus on their own relationship.”
The pair were looking for a new residence that included space for a home gym amid Jack’s dreams of becoming a professional mixed martial arts fighter.
“I like the fact that Jack’s an alpha male, I think he’s nice and bulky,” Sara gushed about their romance. “But more importantly, I like how calm he keeps me.”
In response, Jack shared what he loved about Sara, adding, “She’s really attractive and she seems like she’s my age when I talk to her.”
Sara and Jack revealed that they initially met at a storage facility where she worked. After Jack came to complain about ants in his unit, they decided to go on a date — and the rest was history.
“We just kept smiling at each other and talking,” Sara shared. “Immediately after our first date Jack moved in, that day.”
Their realtor Mengo Lor called the duo “very unique,” telling the cameras, “I guess love sees no age.”
Another scene in the episode showed the couple preparing fruit when Sara told Jack, “I like your banana.” The comments section was quickly filled with surprised reactions.
“Oh mama this is NOT the house hunters I grew up with,” one user wrote, while someone else added, “He moved in SAME DAY? Girl she kidnapped him.”
Viewers speculated about the motivation behind Sara and Jack’s whirlwind romance, with a comment reading, “Oh he needed a place to liiiiiive.” Another fan wondered whether Jack was “living in the storage unit.”
TikTok creator Madison Humphrey also joined in on the fun with a parody of the couple’s interaction. “I like the fact that Brayden is very dominant. I also like the fact that he’s very big and strong and muscular,” she joked in an August video, referring to her husband. “But most importantly, I love how grounded he keeps me.”
While some HGTV viewers criticized Sara and Jack’s ages, others defended their connection.
“So what.., they are happy,” one person commented, while another wrote, “You go girl!”
