Boston College and Denver will square off on Sunday night in the regional final of the 2025 NCAA college hockey tournament. This is a rematch of last year’s national championship game. The No. 1 seed Eagles are coming off a 3-1 victory over No. 16 seed Bentley on Friday afternoon in the NCAA Regional Semifinal. BC improved to 27-7-2 overall with the win. No. 3 seed Denver defeated the No. 2-seed Providence Friars 5-1 on Friday night.
In its contest against Bentley, Boston College opened the scoring late in the first period when Gabe Perreault shifted his way around the Bentley goaltender and tucked in a shot for the lead. James Hagens found Ryan Leonard in the slot before he quickly found Perreault to put the Eagles out in front before the first intermission. As the clock ran down in the third period with overtime looming, the Eagles took the lead for good with 1:17 remaining in the third period.
Zeev Buium and senior captain Carter King had a goal and two assists each. At the same time, junior forward Aidan Thompson tallied one and had a helper.
Sunday’s Regional Final against Boston College will mark the teams’ third meeting in the last two years and fourth time in the last four seasons. DU is 2-1-0 in those previous matchups, including winning 2-0 in last year’s NCAA Championship Game on April 13, 2024, in St. Paul, Minnesota.
