A resilient husky named Guy has finally found his forever home after a rough start, thanks to the intuition of a dedicated rescue group.
West Coast Cane Corso Rescue, a Smartsville, California, nonprofit known for protecting and rehoming cane corsos since 2014, shared Guy’s touching story in a recent Instagram video, where the nonprofit revealed the dog’s first adoption didn’t go to plan.
“Guy was adopted last week,” the rescue worker said in the video. “The family didn’t like him at all. They said they were afraid of him and sent him back home.”
It was then that the rescue worker realized something—they had made a mistake. “I messed up,” they wrote in the post. “I had two applicants for Guy and I initially chose the wrong family … I called the other applicant, apologized, and he was devastated.”
That applicant, a man named Abraham, thought he had missed his opportunity to adopt Guy. But, when the first family decided to return him, fate intervened. “I called Abraham and told him what happened,” the rescue center said. “He came and picked him up and it’s been a love fest ever since. I keep getting cute texts and updates saying how happy they are. Guy knew where he wanted to be. Cosmic little being.”
Guy’s story is made even more remarkable by his rough beginnings. He was one of 33 huskies rescued in a high-profile animal cruelty case in Northern California last October.
Authorities seized over 60 dogs from a property operated by a man claiming to run a rescue. Two dogs died, and dozens were found in poor conditions. The man, 67-year-old Brady Fehr, now faces numerous charges.
Since then, Guy has been on a journey not just to recovery, but to his happy ending—and now, it seems, he’s finally home.
In response to the Instagram post, people were delighted to hear Guy was now in a loving home.
“My heart dropped then raised again!!! Yay Mr. Guy!!” an Instagram user wrote in the comments.
One viewer said that it was the perfect example of fate. “What is for you WILL be for you and this is who Guy was meant for,” they wrote.
Another wrote: “When it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.” And one Instagram viewer said: “So happy that he found his person!!”
