A dog’s animated reaction to seeing a spooky Halloween display in a homeware store has left viewers on TikTok in stitches.
The canine was captured jumping away in shock at the mere sight of a decorative corpse-bride statue, a popular Halloween emblem, in a short clip later shared to TikTok by their owner under @liv_hinkley. The 8-second clip, which was posted on October 10, has been viewed more than 365,000 times to date, amassing over 45,000 likes in the process.
As Halloween approaches, stores, particularly homeware stores, have been polishing off their elaborate seasonal displays.
Amid the rows of pumpkins and candy are often ghoulish masks or scary statement pieces that, in this case, caused a rush of fear within the passing dog. Viewers were able to see the canine strolling along with their owner while on leash, before coming across the large decorative corpse bride. To the amusement of viewers, the dog took a double take, appeared confused by the display, and then tried to run off into the store before realizing that they are still on leash and attached to their owner.
An overlaid text on the video read: “When you’re not a fan of spooky season.”
“The Range Halloween displays are extra scary this year,” the caption added. The Range is a homeware store in the U.K., which is where the video’s creator and her pet are based.
Since it was shared to the platform, the short clip has sparked comments from viewers who were keen to share their amusement at the dog’s surprised reaction; several shared how similarly their own pets react when they come across seasonal decorations that tower over them.
“The double take,” one viewer said, while another added: “He did a triple take.”
“He thought it was just you at first,” a third viewer said.
“My two dogs had the same reaction walking into The Range,” one commented.
“Haha our Kobe does the exact same thing,” another viewer said.
“His little huff,” a third added.
“The jump like human why are you not terrified of this awful thing,” one viewer posted.
“Me too, buddy. Me too,” another wrote.
