The LSU Tigers look to be in the driver’s seat for Colorado transfer Jordan Seaton, the top offensive tackle left on the market.
New head coach Lane Kiffin has splashed money around in the NCAA transfer portal, landing multiple highly sought-after players and, for the most part, overhauling the entire roster.
While the transfer portal is closed, there are still outstanding players that teams can sign, though no new players, other than those from Miami and Indiana, can submit their names.
Teams are left fending for the remaining players to make last-minute upgrades, and LSU is aiming to land the biggest fish on the market.
Kiffin has brought in star quarterback Sam Leavitt into the fold, along with two other quarterbacks as he hopes to get his offense started on the right foot.
While his signal-caller room is set, the offensive line group, which fell short of the physical SEC standard, still needs work.
Luckily, Seaton is in the transfer portal and ranks as a top-20 transfer prospect by most metrics. LSU has been launching a full-court press for the offensive tackle, hoping to woo him with the campus’s opportunities and its expansive NIL budget.
According to a new update from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz,
“While Oregon isn’t out of contention, he’s no longer expected to visit the Ducks, sources tell me and @chris_hummer,” Zenitz wrote in a post on X.
“LSU appears to have some momentum with him at the moment. Miami among the others in the mix.”
What does Jordan Seaton bring to LSU?
Seaton has two years of eligibility left, though given his pedigree, he will likely play only one more year before entering the NFL Draft as a first-round pick.
Still, for a season, he would offer a blue-chip left tackle that will be a true tone-setter for running the ball and pass protection.
He was a former five-star recruit whom Deion Sanders landed at the end of his first season, starting right away as a true freshman. After two years with the legend in Colorado, he is in the portal, coming off a season when he earned second-team All-Big 12 honors.
LSU, or whoever lands Seaton, will be paying a pretty penny for him.
“(His) reported asking price is around $2.5M,” 247Sports’ Cooper Petagna said. “I would expect him to receive north of $3 million considering the number of tackle needy contenders.”
