Emily in Paris’ Emily Cooper is surely living her best life in Italy if star Lily Collins’ behind-the-scenes snaps are any indication.
“A very Venetian getaway,” Collins, 36, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, August 16, sharing photos from the cast’s shoot on a water taxi in Venice. “When work becomes play.”
While lounging on the boat, Collins wore a whimsical tomato-printed HVN by Harley Viera-Newton sundress featuring other illustrations of various types of pasta, paired with a chocolate-colored bucket hat and oversized sunglasses.
In another photo included in the roundup, Collins switched her look for a white polka-dot frock with matching black-and-white ballet flats. She accessorized her look with a pair of gold hoop earrings and a paper fan with illustrations of lemons on the front.
Collins plays the titular Emily on the Netflix hit, chronicling the character’s fish-out-of-water story when she moves from Chicago to the City of Lights for a new marketing job. By the end of season 4, Emily leaves Paris with new love interest Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) by her side to head up an Italian division of her firm.
No matter what antics Emily gets up to during the fifth season, it’s evident that she will do so in her signature over-the-top style.
“She’s a young woman with disposable income,” show director Andrew Fleming exclusively told Us Weekly in August 2024, defending Emily’s luxurious looks. “[Emily] doesn’t have any children. She doesn’t have a big mortgage; she doesn’t have a car. She spends her money on clothes. It’s a passion. It’s part of her mindset to be creative with what she wears.”
Fleming further opened up about how a handful of style choices is difficult to work with.
“Certain hats are impossible,” he quipped, going on to discuss Emily’s wide-brimmed fascinator from a season 4 masquerade ball. “It’s a reveal. It’s the first time we’re seeing a big outfit, like, an important outfit.”
Emily in Paris is streaming on Netflix. A premiere date for season 5 has yet to be announced.
