Do you hear that noise in the distance?
The hearty laughter of a man knowing he was right all along?
That’s LaVar Ball somewhere in the world right now, watching as what he always dreamed of might be finally coming true in the NBA.
On Wednesday, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Lonzo Ball to the Utah Jazz, who then waived the former No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Although that might look like a bad thing, it’s not. The Jazz are allowing Ball to explore his options, which he has many, especially one he has been linked to throughout the trade deadline rumor season.
The elder Ball brother has been linked by multiple sources to a potential partnership with his younger brother, LaMelo, on the surging Charlotte Hornets.
The Hornets currently hold the longest winning streak in the NBA with seven victories, and they’ll look to add another one tomorrow on the road against the Houston Rockets.
Lonzo and LaMelo have not played together since their days on the same famed high school team in Chino Hills with their middle brother, LiAngelo Ball.
Lonzo was the generational passer and talisman of the group, LiAngelo the biggest and sturdiest, with the tiny LaMelo known for pulling up at halfcourt for the zaniest, off-balance shots possible that somehow went in.

Back in 2016, the Ball brothers were either seen as future stars by basketball fans or considered a circus sideshow that would bomb out before they reached the NBA. Although LiAngelo never solidified a spot in the league, Lonzo and LaMelo have found their own respective success, and a decade later, they might finally reunite under the same banner.
Lonzo, who missed two full seasons due to injury, has been healthy but underperforming this season in a backup role for the Cavaliers. LaMelo, on the other hand, has shown glimpses of why he was named Rookie of the Year and seen as a potential perennial All-Star in the league.
If the Ball brothers do come together in Charlotte, already one of the most fun teams to watch in basketball will become even more must-see television. Especially if you’re in the LaVar Ball household.
