Lucien Laviscount is keeping expectations high while teasing twists and turns in season 5 of Emily in Paris.
“Expect the unexpected,” Laviscount, 33, who plays Alfie, exclusively told Us Weekly while attending the Netflix House Philadelphia VIP Housewarming Party on Monday, November 10. “I know that when I first got the pilot [for the season 5 premiere], I was taken aback a little bit.”
Laviscount is excited for fans to see the final product. “But again, the Emily in Paris universe just keeps on churning out great stuff,” he hinted. “I leave all my fate in the writers. This season is a fun one.”
The Netflix series, which premiered in 2020, centers around Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) and her often hilarious attempts to find her footing in France after moving from the U.S. for a new job. Emily subsequently ends up caught in a love triangle between Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie (Laviscount).
Emily intentionally started season 4 by choosing Gabriel but it ended as quickly as it started. She ended the season by moving on with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) in Rome and she wasn’t the only one going on new adventures. Alfie, meanwhile, brought up a girlfriend that viewers have yet to meet — but Laviscount didn’t appear to rule out his character still having possible feelings for Emily.
“Time will tell all,” he said about the chances of him returning to the love triangle. “I’m just happy I get to come back and work with these people every season.”
Laviscount’s costar Ashley Park, who was also at the Netflix House Philadelphia VIP Housewarming Party, offered similar hints about what will unfold when the show returns on December 18.
What I’ll say is that was a teaser [that Netflix released] and that was only in Rome,” Park, 34, who plays Mindy Chen, shared “We also filmed in Paris and Venice so that was truly a teaser.”
Park promised that fans are in for a fun ride.
“This gives you a taste of the tone and what you can be excited for in the first couple of episodes,” she added. “But there’s a lot more. The best is yet to come.”
While season 5 will be going through some changes with Emily making a move to Rome, creator Darren Star previously shut down fan concerns that Emily in Paris would now be Emily in Rome.
“All I know is [I don’t want to do] Emily in Space. I don’t need to go to space,” Park quipped to Us on Monday about possible scenarios for story lines in the future. “I’ll go anywhere else. Preferably a beach.”
Emily in Paris returns Thursday, December 18, on Netflix.
