New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez will undergo surgery Monday to repair a fractured left hamate bone and will be out for six to eight weeks, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Sunday in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Alvarez, 23, batted .237 with 11 home runs in 2024, when the Mets reached the National League Championship Series.

“It happened (Saturday) during live at-bats,” Mendoza said. “After that second at-bat, (he) felt something, came in, trainer checked him out, sent him for x-rays that showed the fracture.”
