Biggest Risers
Athletics (+6)
The Athletics have won six of their last eight games, including winning two series over the division-rival Rangers. They’ve allowed two or fewer runs in four of their last five games.
Cincinnati Reds (+5)
The Reds have been playing great baseball under manager Terry Francona. They’re top 10 in the league in team ERA (3.53) and batting average against (.206), while being top five in runs scored (163) and No. 11 in team OPS (.722).
Minnesota Twins (+4)
The Twins won six of seven games and four in a row last week, including a series sweep of the Angels. They remain among the bigger disappointments in MLB thus far, but are starting to show signs of life.
Biggest Fallers
Los Angeles Angels (-9)
The Angels have been right up there with the Rockies as the worst team in MLB over the past few weeks. After starting the season so promising at 9-5, they’ve since lost 13 of their last 16 games and appear headed for another brutal season. Mike Trout’s knee soreness only makes matters worse.
Toronto Blue Jays (-5)
The Blue Jays have been on losing streaks of five and three games over the past couple weeks. The team’s 4.24 ERA ranks 22nd in MLB. Their .658 OPS ranks 25th.
Baltimore Orioles (-5)
The Orioles just keep tumbling down these rankings after another losing week. Their team ERA of 5.47 ranks 29th in MLB, only ahead of the Marlins. Their starting pitching ERA is an abysmal 6.04, only ahead of the Marlins and Rockies.
