The Chicago Bears are preparing for a massive game early in the season as they avoid a 1-3 hole when they face the Los Angeles Rams at home today. The Bears will look to move back to .500, and they will have a tough Rams team that is coming off a solid win in Week 3.

The Bears will face a tough challenge, and they hope the tide turns in their favor this week.

We’re only three games into the season, but some minor alarms are going off in Chicago. The Bears’ offense has not lived up to the hype through three games, and because of that, all eyes have turned to offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.

Earlier this week, Bears captains quarterback Caleb Williams, tight end Cole Kmet, wide receiver DJ Moore, and tight end Marcedes Lewis met with Waldron to share their honesty and feedback on working out the issues within a unit that is averaging a league-worst 3.7 yards per play.

The veteran in the room, Lewis, who has been in the league for 19 years, provided a powerful and direct message to his coaches and teammates.

“From the oldest guy in the room — being me — to the youngest guy [22-year-old Williams], don’t feel like you can’t coach us,” Lewis said. “I want to be coached. I want to be great. … This is not for play. This is our job. We understand that. It’s a high — stressful, production-based business and we’ve all got to be doing the same things, or everybody gets fired. Ego is supposed to be left at the door. He’s very receptive to that.

“Sometimes as the coach coming in, you might be walking on eggshells. I just kind of put that to bed. Nobody’s sensitive in here. We want to win games just as bad as you do. It’s a collaborative effort. This is not Pop Warner.”

It has not been fun for the Bear’s offense, and Waldron took accountability as well.

“I got to be better in that situation, and I will moving forward,” Waldron said.

The Bears’ offense has struggled mightily, especially their run game. Chicago ranks 31st with 72.7 yards per game and 31st in yards per attempt at 3.03. The only team worse than the Bears in those categories is the Las Vegas Raiders.

We’ll find out soon if that meeting helped the Bears out for the better or if they will continue to tread in their ways. If there is a game to get right in, it is this one, as the Rams’ defense ranks 32nd in yards allowed and 31st in scoring.
