If you’re a fan of March Madness, there’s a good chance you’re watching multiple games at once — whether that’s split-screening on one TV or setting up several screens side by side.
However, one recurring issue has already surfaced again early Thursday — and it’s something fans have complained about for years. The scoreboard ticker at the top of the screen is often ahead of the actual game broadcast.
That means if you’re watching two games at once, the ticker updating scores from around the tournament can spoil what’s about to happen in one of the games you’re currently watching.
That exact frustration was pointed out less than an hour into the tournament by Bartsool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy.
“It’s unacceptable every year the scoreboards at the top of the screen are ahead and spoil what’s about to happen,”Portnoy posted. “We’re taping over all of them with black tape.”

Portnoy wasn’t the only one to call out the broadcasting issue, as it quickly became a viral topic on social media with fans reacting in real time.
“You’re my kind of people. I feel the same way every college football Saturday. I’ve trained myself to ignore the ticker at the bottom of the screen,” one fan said.
Another added, “Fix the scoreboards at the top. We say this every year. It’s ahead of the action. FIX IT.”
“Really ridiculous that CBS Sports hasn’t corrected this annual problem. It takes one look at a second screen to understand the complaint,” another fan wrote.
“How hard is it to put the scores on a minute delay?????” one user questioned.
One more fan added, “I don’t want them to get rid of it, but it’s insane how it’s not on a significant delay.”
The idea of having score bugs at the top of the screen is widely appreciated, and the NCAA Tournament rarely draws much criticism overall, but finding a fix for this one issue may be the only tweak needed.
