A 33-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant has died after being struck by a car in Sydney’s north-west.

A P-plate driver, aged 19, has been arrested in relation to the deadly crash, which also injured another pedestrian.

Emergency services were called to the entrance of a car park on George Street, Hornsby, shortly after 8pm on Friday, following reports that a silver Kia station wagon had hit a pedestrian after allegedly being rear-ended by a white BMW driven by a P-plater.

A 33-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant has died in Sydney’s north-west after being struck by a car.

A police spokesman said the driver of the Kia slowed down as he was turning into the car park to allow the pregnant woman to cross when the BMW allegedly crashed into the back of it, pushing the Kia forward and hitting the woman.

The woman was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. She and her unborn baby later died.

Both drivers of the Kia and BMW were uninjured. They were taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing. There were no passengers in either car.

Police arrested the 19-year-old man just before 1am on Saturday.

A crime scene has been established, and a police investigation is ongoing.
