However, LaFleur knew changes were set to come for his coaching staff after the Packers lost the Chicago Bears 31-27 in the wild-card round.
During his postgame news conference, LaFleur said he anticipated that defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley would receive a head coaching job for 2026. On Monday, the Miami Dolphins hired Jeff Hafley to become their next head coach, pairing him with new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, who came from the Packers.

LaFleur suggested the Packers had a plan in place in case Hafley left.
“All options are on the table,” LaFleur said, via USA Today. “I think that’s something we’ll be working through. We’ll make sure we have a good plan in place.”
Green Bay is searching for a new defensive coordinator to pair with star pass-rusher Micah Parsons. One of those options could be a defensive coordinator who coached in a Super Bowl.
Per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the Packers are set to interview former Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon. The Dallas Cowboys interviewed Gannon for their defensive coordinator gig on Tuesday.
“The Packers are slated to interview former Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon for their defensive coordinator job this week, sources say,” Garafolo posted on X. “Gannon has interest from multiple teams as a DC, notably the Cowboys, who interviewed him today.”
Gannon, 43, went 15-36 during his three years with the Cardinals. Arizona hired him after Gannon had success as the defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021 and 2022.
Gannon left for the Cardinals after the Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII. Gannon’s defense was impressive in 2022, recording 70 sacks.
It’ll be interesting to see if he lands with the Packers. Green Bay has key pieces like Parsons on the roster, but the team needs to add secondary help in the offseason.
